Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) is a medical college situated in New Delhi, India. It is affiliated to the University of Delhi and run by the Delhi government. It is named after the Indian freedom fighter and the first education minister of independent India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. It was established in 1959 at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near Delhi Gate.
The obsequious beginning of Maulana Azad medical college was in 1958 with an erstwhile training hospital
( now named Lok Nayak hospital), attached to it. The college has named after great patriot and educationist, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and shines today as an embodiment of medical eminence.
Having viewed all over India this institute is now ranked no 3rd in the country according to the college website. The institute is spread over 122 acres. The college is attached to the four other institutes- ie, Lok Nayak hospital, GB pant institute of postgraduate medical education and research, Maulana Azad institute of dental sciences & guru Nanak rye center.

History
Everything has its own history so to know more about this college we must know it’s history. history tries to tell you from its origin to how it has been able to reach this point. so, let’s know the history of this college so we might be able to know more about it. on Saturday 24th October 1959, the foundation stone of MAMC was laid by Union Home Minister Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant. This event was reported by all major newspapers. The given excerpt from the Hindustan Times will be able to give you some glimpse of the event.

The Home Minister said Maulana Azad was one of the greatest patriots of the country. he combined statesmanship with profound scholarship. His memories would inspire all the people of the country for his long devotions to the service of humanity. he said it to Referring to the fact that college building was erected on the site which was previously occupied by the central jail.
Pandit Pant said this reflects that new India is emerging. this place which was a symbol of people’s suffering was to become a place would now help to relieve it.
Pandit Pant considered that the welcome song presented by the students of the campus lacked in poetry. When the home minister said the “dismal walls of Jain complex had been demolished to be replaced with corridors illuminated by the soft of light, science and knowledge” he used his style of poetic language.
Pandit Pant also recalled his many years in various jails and said, “I did not lose much by going there again and again”. He was referring to the grievances of the students who have been lodged in the former jail. The new building of the college was expected to be ready in three stages with the cost of Rs. One Crore.
Courses of Maulana Azad Medical College & Hospital
The Four hospitals namely Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Hospital, GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, and Guru Nanak Eye Centre are situated in the college campus and is consigned to the college. The hospitals have the availability of 2800 beds, 7200 daily outpatient attendance, and 47 operation theatres for the patients and also for the medical students to learn from it. The college proves to be a second home for 290 undergraduate students, 245 postgraduate, and post-doctoral students per year. These students are being trained by 426 faculty members and 810 resident doctors.
The Maulana Azad medical colleges offer the course of MBBS and MD and MS degrees and postgraduate residency courses for super-specialty / sub-specialty fellowship degrees of MCh and DM.
nursing and pharmacy courses offering institutions are also attached to the college. MAMC has been offering more than 30 courses in the Medical Stream. A sister institute Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research which provides courses in super specialties and basic subjects is located within the campus. Pediatric Surgery and Neonatology courses in Post Doctoral are also available at MAMC

Admission process MBBS
The candidates who wish to get admission should first appear for the NEET UG exam. This exam is conducted every year generally in the month of May by the National Testing Agency(NTA).
After appearing in the NEET examination, the candidates with an appropriate percentile are required to register for the AQI NEET counseling.
Furthermore, the candidates will also have to attend counseling that is conducted by the Directorate General Of Health Science(DGHS). The counseling is conducted on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee ( MCC ).

MD/MS/PG DIPLOMA
For those candidates who want admission in these courses are required to appear in the NEET PG examination. This exam is conducted by the National Board Of Examination (NBE).
The candidates are required to get the minimum qualifying marks or percentile. The candidates who have secured the qualifying percentile should participate in the counseling process. This is conducted by the Directorate General Of Health Service (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
